Stags Baseball Hands Manhattan First MAAC Loss

The Stags bounced back from a doubleheader sweep by the Manhattan Jaspers to win 6-3 on Sunday, closing out the home season. Fairfield was led by junior Brian Rudolph, who blasted a game-winning three-run home run in the sixth inning. Ryan Calabrese picked up the victory.

The Stags improved their record to 8-12 in MAAC play, while the Jaspers drop to 19-1.

Farfield currently sits in seventh place in the MAAC, but is only two games out of the fourth and final playoff berth. The Stags have two conference series remaining, against Marist and Rider.

Baseball Wins Two Straight

On Tuesday, the Stags defeated Sacred Heart, 13-5.

On Wednesday, the Stags beat Hartford, 13-11.

Softball Falls Twice In MAAC Games Against Iona

On Wednesday, the Fairfield softball team dropped two important MAAC games to Iona.

Kristie Trifiolis '10, Cagney Ringnalda '07 and Meghan Borst '10 brought the Stags off to an early lead in the first game, but Iona caught up quickly.

The game ended 6-5, Iona.

In the second game, the lead went back and forth between the two teams from inning to inning. Despite hard work by the Stags (and a home run by Jessica Stand '10), Iona managed to win the game, 5-4.
